This study is one of the first to recruit a national sample of transgender patients to explore their views on the importance of collecting Sexual Orientation/Gender Identity (SO/GI) data in healthcare settings and their preferred methods of disclosure. These findings represent an important first step toward informing national standards and best practices for SO/GI data collection in healthcare settings.
