The Trevor Project, the world’s largest suicide prevention and crisis intervention organization for LGBTQ youth, created this report based on over 34,000 youth respondents, which is the largest survey of LGBTQ youth mental health ever conducted. The Trevor Project’s overall goal is to produce and use innovative research that brings new knowledge and clinical implications to the field of suicidology and LGBTQ mental health. For example, data from this survey revealed that 76% of youth respondents indicated that they would be somewhat to extremely likely to reach out via text or chat in a crisis, and 39% of LGBTQ respondents seriously considered attempting suicide in the past twelve months.
